Temple

This was my attempt at the Temple which I hated doing, it isn't amazing but to me it's the best I could do. Considering Maya is kind of my worst enemy I'm proud of what I did.
Here it is:

Insectoid

This is what I came up with for the insectoid project, I liked the idea of an praying mantis that could fly. I really liked the final idea, as it had camouflage as well as the fighting skills of the praying mantis and the ability to flee, due to the moths wings.
And so I came up with the montis:

Guns!! (Retro Style)

This task was one of my favourites as I like guns anyway, where most of the other people on the course went for a futuristic gun I went with the retro styled guns as that's my personal preference. So I decided to look at flintlocks and Tommy guns as they are my favourite guns in general, I then drew up a couple of guns from the mood board I created. I lastly put the two together to create one of the coolest mash up guns ever in my mind. So here they are:

The Best Maya I've Done

This is the best Maya that I did, I've realised that I am really no good at Maya. I'm a lot better at the drawing side of things, I can't get a grip on how Maya works, I know it'll just be a matter of time and practice but I really can't get into it.
Anyway this was my best attempt at the Maya work we've been set. I didn't want to upload some of the other work as it isn't very good. But here are the tools we were set to model:

Studying Anatomy

I liked this project a lot as I knew where most of the bones were and there names due to a background of PE, where we had to be able to name at least 25 bones, and also Biology.
I like drawing bones for some reason, I find them easy to draw but some of them also resemble other things, for example the pelvis almost looks like a butterfly.
But here are my little sketches and my labeled diagrams:

Two Point Perspective Tank

I like to draw in perspective as for things like this it's a lot easier due to the fact that this in particular is essentially just blocks with shading to show depth and tone. Although it is a lot easier to mess up when doing something like this it's a lot easier to me, for example if I was to draw something like this without two point perspective I would have found it incredibly difficult.

I am fairly proud of this as normally I cannot draw vehicles however this time I managed to complete it fairly well.

Best Life Drawings yet

The last session of the year showed my progress when it comes to life drawing, it showed how I can use tone and have almost get proportion right all the time. I've realised that I quite enjoy life drawing now as I can almost use it as an escape and a chance to study the human body closely. Even though I can't concentrate on the face which is what I like to do normally, it's a nice and calming time for me to do meaningful work.
Here are the two best that I have done this year:

Speed Painting Fail

Well today's class was for speed painting and trying to recreate a landscape on photoshop, I'm not very good at photoshop so I found it particularly difficult. But I carried on and tried to complete it to the best of my ability.

It was my first attempt at using layers and actually trying to draw a whole piece on photoshop, so in that respect I'm fairly proud of what I actually did.

Some of the little doodles I've been doing

I've been doing little doodles around the work being set and figured I'd post a few of them. Enjoy!

I was thinking about my game idea and came up with this idea as some of the characters would be a mechanical human and so I wanted to portray that in the eye.

Here I just wanted to draw eyes, mouths and faces because for some reason I like doing that.

This was a quick piece of concept I did for my games encounters lessons.

MONSTERS FOR HALLOWEEN

Yup Halloween time is here and out come the ghoulies and the ghosties, but also all of the weird monster designs lurking in the darkest corners of my brain, Here's what I managed to come up with.

Tentacles, yes tentacles

So the task was tentacles, I begun by making a moodboard to which I could reference to and it also created the basis for my ideas to span from. I wanted to go down the human with tentacles route, whether it be a human with tentacles as it's legs or something like that, I didn't know yet. I started off doing a few little sketches of tentacles and little concepts and then moved on to doing one piece that as soon as I started it I didn't like and another which I liked a lot from the very beginning.

The one on the right was the one I didn't like from the moment I started drawing it. However before starting the one on the left I realised I wanted to create and Ursula from Ariel with zombie influences which seemed to work out well.

One point perspective

So the task was to create landscape using one point perspective and i like the idea of having the vanishing point on a horizon with a moon or a sun on the horizon. So this is what I strived to create. I've done one point perspective before and I really wanted to create a cool looking drawing.

I started by putting in my horizon and vanishing point, as they are the two main element. I then marked out all of the main parts of the drawing in which I wanted to include (i.e the shops, railing and the moon). Finally I added in tone and some people to depth tone and flare. Overall i'm farely proud of what i did :)

First Life Drawing

So the first life drawing session didn't go all too well however I did manage to get a couple of ok drawings out of it, I also realised that I genuinely like to draw with charcoal. Plus I think I'm starting to realise I quite like drawing large scale human bodies,
This was possibly the best one I did as I managed to use tone on the models back.

Robots :3

The first assignment was to create a badass robot, however in the process I managed to make 2 fairly cute ones. But also my badass woman robot too. In the beginning I didn't know what exactly I should have drawn as there are too many types of robots to choose from, So I went through all different types of roobots, cute, creepy and then humanoid and realised I wanted to create a human badass robot,

Starting a new chapter

Okay, I don't know how to write things like these. So welcome to my blog!

I'm Roseanne Traylen an 18 year old who likes to draw faces way more than the average person, I'll always have a sketch pad and pen on me. I mainly draw portraits which isn't really the norm when it comes a course like CGA, we all normally like anime and drawing in that kind of style. Don't get me wrong i'm as big a fan of anime as the next person but i like to try and get  things looking almost real. That's why i love faces, with all their expression and tone.

My style will expand over the next three years and I will find who I am and my style (hopefully).

Here's the two recent portraits i did to exercise my eye;
