Final Character Model Task

Maya is one of the programmes that I can't use for more than ten minutes without becoming extremely annoyed because something has broken on me. But this character task really was the death of me, I managed to get up until the neck on my first attempt before realising I had done it all wrong.

I then started again and managed to do it properly before getting to the hands and neck where I really couldn't finish them.

This shows my model up to the beginning of the arms where the shoulders end, up until this part I managed okay.

This is where I ended up finishing because I couldn't model the hands, neck or head. Even though I tried multiple times it wouldn't work, in the end I just gave up here because it was taking too much time and I couldn't finish them in time for the deadline.

In the end I'm proud of what I actually managed to complete, even though it isn't finished. Comparing it to my other Maya models it is a lot better and I am more than happy with what I produced.

Vampire

So the paint over task was fun as we had to paint over a vampire, I decided to make it look more realistic and so I gave him flesh coloured skin and realistic blood splatters. I enjoyed this task as the Vampire reminded me of one of the ones seen in the film The Lost Boys.

The first thing I did was I added the skin tone to make it look more realistic as without it just looked like a Vampire that had just been Staked through the heart.

This was my final vampire which I think has just the right amount of gore on it to pass it as a real vampire especially like one of the ones from The Lost Boys, like this one.

Overall I am fairly happy with this one the one thing I could have done better is the painting over of the skin tone.

Lava Homework

This is the Lava homework assignment I'm fairly proud of this one, I've always wanted to make a lava dragon and I'm happy with the result I got from it. As always I made a mood board with examples of lava dragons.

I knew from the beginning that I wanted it to be in a cave, and I went from there and drew a flying dragon which looks as though it is after someone. I then overlapped a lava photo to create the illusion of it being on fire and angry.

Overall I am happy with what I produced, however I wish the shading was a little bit better on the body of the dragon but the overlap makes up for it.

Pixel Art

This one was a lot of fun as it meant creating something new, and it wasn't too hard to do either. First we had to create a cube using the layers on Photoshop and overlaying them. Which was fairly easy.

We then had to create a cylinder so that we could in the end make a fire hydrant, which ended up looking like this:

At first this was harder than it seems but after a while it was quite fun.

Animating Sprites

We were animating sprites which was fun as we were animating one of the guards from Star Wars to walk, and also a  girl. I preferred working with the guard though, forever being the geek.

The sprites I found extremely adorable too, especially the guard as in the movie he is extremely big.

Steampunk, My Favourite

This was my favourite task as I love the Steampunk style, I will even be doing a Steampunk Harley Quinn cosplay. Anyway I digress, I knew I wanted to create one of two things, a graceful lady or a bad ass magician. So as always I went bad ass. First, as always, I created a moodboard of all the fashion:

I picked pieces that showed grace and others that were extremely bad ass, so that I could use them as inspiration when creating my characters and it made it a lot easier.

These were the original concepts that I came up with, one shows grace and the other shows bad ass magician who uses the magic as a show rather than a weapon. I then chose my magician as the one I wanted to colour and complete.

I am extremely proud of this one as it shows her character and attitude, I really like my shading on her too. Considering this is only my second piece on photoshop like this, I am very happy.
